WHEREAS, Dom Streater, a 24 year-old resident of Overbrook in Philadelphia, was revealed as the Season 12 winner of

Project Runway

; and

WHEREAS, She became the first African-American winner of

Project Runway

and

the second Philadelphian to become a winner of

Project Runway

; and

WHEREAS, Dom Streater received a bachelors degree of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from Philadelphia's very own Moore College of Art & Design; and

WHEREAS, Dom Streater was featured in the Emerging Designers II Book in 2010; and

WHEREAS, She was the winner of the Fashion Group International Design Competition in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Dom Streater immediately impressed the judges of

Project Runway

after becoming a contestant on the show

due to her impressive use of textiles and prints; and

WHEREAS, The theme of her final collection for the Season 12 finale of

Project Runway

was “Retro Redux” which she described as the future viewed by the artists and writers from the 1960s; and

WHEREAS, The prints Streater used for her final collection were all hand-drawn, scanned into a computer, and manipulated in Photoshop;

WHEREAS, due to inherent talent, use of bold prints, and unique perspective that incorporates racial diversity into her pieces, Dom Streater was named the winner of Season 12 of

Project Runway

; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Recognizes and honors Dominique “Dom” Streater for her tremendous success and achievement not only for the victories from her past, but also those that will arise in her bright future.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Dom Streater as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
