Full Bill

WHEREAS, Led by coach Jim Savage, the Father Judge Crusaders soundly defeated the LaSalle College High School Wrestling Team on January 29th, 2014 and the 40 to 25 victory gave the Judge Wrestling Team their first ever Catholic League title. This victory marked the second time in less than a month that the Crusaders had beaten their archrival, making their domination of the LaSalle squad that much more satisfying; and

WHEREAS, The Crusaders finished up their championship season with a school best record of 15 wins and 4 losses; and

WHEREAS, Two days after their victory over LaSalle, Father Judge went on to defeat Northeast High School for the PIAA District XII Title; and

WHEREAS, In addition to these historic accomplishments for the Judge Wrestlers, the team can also boast of some individual accomplishments; two Catholic League Champions, three District XII Champions and one Regional Champion; and

WHEREAS, For the second time in two years, senior Joey Gallasso competed in the PIAA State Finals and medaled alongside his teammate, Idris White; and

WHEREAS, In addition to these honors thirteen student-athletes earned All-Catholic Wrestling Honors. First team All-Catholic Honors were awarded to Joe Galasso and Idris White. Tim McCall, Kyle Mallon, David White, Vickson Krah and Tom Bayer earned Second Team Honors. Third Team All Catholic Honors were awarded to Trevor Elfvin, Nick Reidy and Kyle Palinkas. Additionally, Charles Wallace, Adam White and Albert McGrath all received All-Catholic Honorable Mention for the 2013-2014 season; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor the Father Judge High School Varsity Wrestling Team on their first Philadelphia Catholic League and PIAA District XII Championship.

RESOLVED FURTHER, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Jim Savage and the members of the 2014 Philadelphia Catholic League and PIAA District XII Champions as further evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
