Full Bill

WHEREAS, During the early morning of June 10, 2014, a fire broke out in the 7100 block of Guyer Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia in a house with an older gentleman and his young grandson inside; and

WHEREAS, A neighbor, Damien Fuller, braved the smoke and flames to courageously rescue the older gentleman, but the young boy remained in the burning house; and

WHEREAS, Two other neighbors, Michael Eugene and Isaiah Palmer, a senior and a junior respectively at Motivation High School, both honor students on their way to school, demonstrated great bravery by breaking a rear window of the burning building, climbing the staircase through the smoke and rescuing the young boy from his bed, taking him to safety; and

WHEREAS, Upon completing their heroic rescue, Mssrs. Eugene and Palmer then continued on their way, arriving at their school 40 minutes late and smelling of smoke—and with a most excellent excuse; and

WHEREAS, City Council joins the rest of the City of Philadelphia in celebrating and thanking Mssrs. Eugene, Palmer and Fuller, for their extraordinary acts of heroism; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it recognizes and honors the heroism of Michael Eugene, Isaiah Palmer and Damien Fuller.

RESOLVED FURTHER, That eEngrossed copies of this resolution be presented to Michael Eugene, Isaiah Palmer and Damien Fuller evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
