Full Bill

WHEREAS, Philadelphia Rec Fest, hosted by the Mayor's Commission on People with Disabilities, Philadelphia's Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Global Abilities Foundation, is holding their fourth annual recreation festival for people of all ages and abilities; and

WHEREAS, One in five Americans is living with a physical disability, developmental disability or sensory impairment. While recreation is essential to physical and mental health, persons with disabilities often lack access to recreational activities; and

WHEREAS, Philadelphia Rec Fest aims to promote participation in recreation by persons of all abilities, increase the public's awareness regarding disabilities and expose persons with disabilities to a variety of activities including scuba diving, rock climbing, wheelchair basketball and tennis; and

WHEREAS, Philadelphia Rec Fest will be held this year on Saturday, September 27th at the Carousel House Recreation Center, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and celebrate the Mayor's Commission on People with Disabilities, Philadelphia's Department of Parks and Recreation and the Global Abilities Foundation, on the occasion of their fourth annual Philadelphia Rec Fest.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the organizers of Philadelphia Rec Fest as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
