WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis is a native of Beatuo City, Nima County, Republic of Liberia, in West Africa; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis is the President of the Liberia Association of Pennsylvania (LAP) Inc. LAP is an association that was established in 1978 by students from Liberia to welcome and advocate for newcomers, specifically, Liberians; and
WHEREAS, Today, LAP serves over thirty thousand Liberians in the state of Pennsylvania. LAP collaborates with social service agencies to assist Liberians with interpretation, scholarship, transportation, tutoring, housing, cultural awareness, and other community-related services. LAP Inc. is a member chapter of the Union of Liberians Association in the Americas (ULAA); and
WHEREAS, The Liberian association of Pennsylvania is one of the founding members of the Mayor's Commission on African, Caribbean and Immigrant Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis has a strong track record of leadership and successes including but not limited to performing in the role of Executive Director of Tappita District Development Association. Mr. Dennis was also the Chairman of United Nimba Citizen's Council (UNICCO) National scholarship committee as well as the Founder and President of Nimba County Youth Association; and
WHEREAS, Dahn Kepayea Dennis is married to Mrs. Tina Dennis with ten beautiful children; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dennis has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Mansfield University and a Master's degree in Counseling from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors, recognizes and commends Mr. Dahn Kepayea Dennis for his devotion to his Liberian community and the people of Philadelphia.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Rngrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Dahn Kepayea Dennis as evidence of the sincere admiration of the Council of Philadelphia.
