The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to recognize and honor Hector Maisonave for his dedication to the Latino Community through Salsa here in Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, Hector Maisonave, legendary Promoter and Manager, has been at the forefront of the emergence and growth of salsa music in the United States and abroad for the past 58 years; and

WHEREAS, From his early career in throwing some of New York City's Best Salsa parties, boat rides and concerts to his world wide bookings of present day Latin Music greats. Hector Maisonave continues his journey in promoting, booking, developing and managing Latin Music Artists; and

WHEREAS, Hector Maisonave is responsible for sharing the talents of legendary artists such as La Lupe, Tito Rodriguez, Ismael Rivera and Tito Puente and contemporary artists such as La India, Tito Nieves, Michael Stuart, Jose Alberto, El Gran Combo and Gilberto Santa Rosa, to name but a few, with audiences around the world; and

WHEREAS, Hector Maisonave has been recognized for his incredible work and dedication as he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Lincoln Center in 2010, the Medal of Honor, from the Senate of Puerto Rico in the same year, Grand Marshall of the Philadelphia Puerto Rican Day Parade in 2013, Grand Marshall of the New York City Three Kings Day Parade in 2014, Grammy Award (received jointly with Grupo Manía, Billboard, Award for Cable Excellence (ACE) Award, and Lo Nuestro Award; and

WHEREAS, Hector Maisonave has adopted the City of Philadelphia as his second home, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge, and heart of gold. He is well respected by many in those in the Latino Community and all over the salsa world for his dedication and outstanding work; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Council of the City of Philadelphia, Hereby recognizes and celebrates Hector Maisonave for his contribution to the Latino Community and to salsa music as he has grown its popularity globally for the past fifty eight years.

Further Resolved, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be sent to Hector Maisonave, as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
