WHEREAS, It is a wonderful trend that is worthy of recognition and promotion; and
WHEREAS, The Center City District has designated August 2nd to 7th and 9th to 14th as Center City Restaurant Week;

As part of Restaurant Week, dozens of Center City's finest restaurants are offering indulgent prix-fixe menus that are both delectable and easy on the wallet with three-course lunches and dinners; and
WHEREAS,
Restaurant Week spotlights Philadelphia's most revered restaurants, including posh Restaurant Row stalwarts like Alma de Cuba and
The Dandelion
, hotspots like
Garces Trading Company
and
Barbuzzo
, exemplary BYOBs like
Mercato
and special-occasion restaurants like
Amada
; and
WHEREAS, Any great city needs great restaurants to satisfy—and even inspire—its ctizenry; and
WHEREAS, We are extremely grateful to those gifted giants of the culinary arts such as Georges Perrier, Stephen Starr, Jose Garces, and Marc Vetri, who were Epicurean Pioneers creating vibrant restaurants in what was largely a gastronomic desert; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby calls upon all Philadelphians to appreciate and participate enthusiastically in Restaurant Week in Center City Philadelphia.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Paul Levy, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Center City District and Chef Dan D'Angelo, Culinary Instructor, Art Institute of Philadelphia and President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Culinary Federation, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
