WHEREAS,

FunTimes

Magazine is a bi-monthly human interest magazine that educates, entertains, and enlightens using humor and real life stories; and

WHEREAS, The magazine bridges cultures and brings communities together – particularly African and Caribbean immigrants and the African Diaspora; and

WHEREAS,

FunTimes

was first published in Monrovia, Liberia during the civil war in 1992, bringing smiles to the faces of the long-suffering populace; and

WHEREAS,

FunTimes

continues publication since the premier U.S. edition was printed in October 2008; and

WHEREAS,

FunTimes

Magazine has achieved a world-wide level of distribution, being distributed in major cities in the United States, Europe, and the African Diaspora; and

WHEREAS,

FunTimes

Magazine sponsors a radio program on WURD the first Sunday evening of each month; and

WHEREAS, The Gala is the largest Diaspora event in the Tri-State; and

WHERES, The vision for the Gala is to showcase African and Caribbean cultures, recognize entrepreneurs and change agents in our community

,

and give back to the African and Caribbean communities that we serve by creating internships for our young adults. It is equally intended to create awareness and enhance networking so it can harness the power within the communities in the Tri-State area; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Recognizes and celebrates

FunTimes

Magazine on the Occasion of its Fifth Annual Gala.

RESOLVED FURTHER, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Eric John Nzeribe, the Publisher of

FunTimes

Magazine, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
