Full Bill

WHEREAS, Founded on February 16th 2013, Rising Queens is one of the sister organizations to Rising Sons, Inc., a 501c3 organization that's prime focus is to assist young adults turn their passion into their profession; and

WHEREAS, Rising Queens is made up of seven female entrepreneurs and young professionals, three Directors, two Program Coordinators, & two Interns. Each Queen possesses a special skill and strong passion for serving the community in their own way; and

WHEREAS, Rising Queens’ mission is to nurture a culture of self love, community, and responsibility among girls and women of all ages. Teach them through the emulation of grace, strength, and interconnectedness how to grow into themselves over the course of a whole life, thereby enriching the culture of the young, the old, the spirited, the calm, the altogether strong, woman; and

WHEREAS, Through after school and mentoring programs, Rising Queens continuously engages young ladies between the ages of 10 to 18 with the goal of cultivating womanhood.

WHEREAS, Rising Queens takes pride in providing events and opportunities for all young ladies and women of our communities; and

WHEREAS, Rising Queens has set out to empower young ladies through personal and professional development while motivating them to resolve the issues within their communities through service and community engagement; and

WHEREAS, Rising Queen’s focuses on life and leadership skills, étiquette, self esteem, self-love, college prep, career prep, growth to womanhood, behaving more maturely and appropriately, being treated with respect, working with others (non-violence), time management, and setting goals that are different from your peer; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby commend The Rising Queens on their 3rd mentoring weekend entitled,

Young Ladies on the Rise “Marvelous Mothers Edition

”.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Martese Clark, Executive Director at Rising Queens, as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
