Full Bill

WHEREAS, Ready, Willing & Able is a transitional housing provider that assists males in the City of Philadelphia’s emergency shelter system to acquire skills, achieve sobriety, and become educated in order to become self-sustaining and responsible members of their families and communities; and

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia supports Ready, Willing & Able, which trains transitioning individuals to perform work such as street cleaning and parks maintenance, providing both immediate and long-term benefit to the citizens of Philadelphia via homelessness reduction; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Anderson, Ray Foreman, Don Mitchell, Tyrieck Mitchum, and Anthony Murphy are currently enrolled in Ready, Willing & Able, and work under the supervision of Joseph Randle; and

WHEREAS, On the morning of April 12th , 2016, a female driver on Greenland Drive in Fairmount Park lost control of her vehicle, which ran over an embankment and landed vertically on a hill; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Anderson, Ray Foreman, Don Mitchell, Tyrieck Mitchum, and Joseph Randle were on their way to a work site when they witnessed the crash; and

WHEREAS, Without hesitation, all five men exited their vehicle to offer assistance to the female driver, whose vehicle was precariously positioned and in danger of tipping over; and

WHEREAS, All five men helped rescue the female driver, who was shaken but not seriously injured; and

WHEREAS, Jessie Anderson, Ray Foreman, Don Mitchell, and Tyrieck Mitchum are working diligently through Ready, Willing & Able in order to secure long-term housing and be able to provide for themselves and their families; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honor, congratulate and recognize Jessie Anderson, Ray Foreman, Don Mitchell, Tyrieck Mitchum, and Joseph Randle of Ready, Willing & Able for their bravery, selflessness, and quick thinking

FUTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Jessie Anderson, Ray Foreman, Don Mitchell, Tyrieck Mitchum, and Joseph Randle of Ready, Willing & Able as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
