Full Bill

WHEREAS, On March 19, 2017, the St. Francis Cabrini Catholic School Boys Basketball Team were named the State Champions after winning the 2017 Catholic Youth Organization Championship Game; and

WHEREAS, The team went on to the State Championship after besting St. Martin de Porres Catholic School (SMDP) in the Archdiocesan tournament. They then competed against teams from across the state to bring home the championship trophy; and

WHEREAS, The boys traveled seven hours to Greenburg, PA to compete against teams from across the state in a nail-biting weekend of back-to-back winning games; and

WHEREAS, While most of the team has played together since Fifth Grade, coaches Greg Alexander and Hayes Clark worked hard to welcome three new players to the team, who transferred to the school this year. Part of the team’s success can be attributed to the tight bond between the coaches and players; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the championship game, the boys conducted themselves with strength and character, making the entire student body and staff of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic School proud; and

WHEREAS, This championship is the second championship for the team, and it certainly won’t be the last; now, therefore

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby congratulates and honors St. Francis Cabrini Catholic School Boys Basketball Program for being named State Champions of the 2017 Catholic Youth Organization Championship Game.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented the St. Francis Cabrini Catholic School Boys Basketball Team as further evidence of the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body.
