Full Bill

WHEREAS, The story of Chickie’s and Pete’s began in 1977 when Peter and Henrietta Ciarrocchi purchased the Robbins Avenue taproom in the Mayfair Neighborhood of Philadelphia. It was there that Pete got his start in the restaurant business, serving at his parent’s restaurant; and

WHEREAS, With the help of his brother Tom, Pete became the face of Chickie’s and Pete’s in 1987, drawing loyal customers with a reliable formula of sports, people, and food, particularly their signature crab fries; and

WHEREAS, In 1998, Chickie’s and Pete’s moved to a new home at Veterans Stadium, fondly known to Philadelphians as “The Vet”. The establishment has since maintained preeminent status as a hub for Philadelphia professional sports fans; and

WHEREAS, Chickie’s and Pete’s has since expanded to twelve locations across Philadelphia and New Jersey, and was named the best sports bar in North America in a 2011 poll by ESPN; and

WHEREAS, To celebrate 40 years, Chickie’s and Pete’s is hosting various events for the Greater Philadelphia Community, which has helped them become a major component in our City; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors and commends Chickie’s and Pete’s for 40 years as an iconic Philadelphia establishment.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Chickie’s and Pete’s as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
