THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1. Chapter 12-700 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

CHAPTER 12-700. BICYCLE LANES.

§ 12-701. Designation of Bicycle Lanes.

(1) A bicycle lane that requires the removal of a parking lane, a travel lane, or both,

or any modification to an existing bicycle lane that would affect the flow of traffic,

may be designated upon a street only when authorized by subsection (2) of this Section.

(2) The Department is authorized to designate a bicycle lane upon the following streets and regulate the operation and use of vehicles and bicycles upon such streets in a manner consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regulations:

SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
