Amending Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Bicycle Lanes," by authorizing the Department of Streets to designate bicycle lanes, in both directions, on Parkside Avenue from North 53rd Street to Bryn Mawr Avenue and authorizing the removal of travel lanes, in the same limits, all under certain terms and conditions.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS
:
SECTION 1. Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
CHAPTER 12-700. BICYCLE LANES.
§ 12-701. Designation of Bicycle Lanes.
(1) A bicycle lane that requires the removal of a parking lane, a travel lane, or both, may be designated upon a street only when authorized by subsection (2) of this Section.
(2) The Department is authorized to designate a bicycle lane upon the following streets and regulate the operation and use of vehicles and bicycles upon such streets in a manner consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regulations:

(*) Parkside Avenue, from North 53rd Street to Bryn Mawr Avenue: One bicycle lane in each direction and the removal of one travel lane in both directions.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
