WHEREAS, Timothy Simpson was appointed to the Philadelphia Police Department on November 14, 1988; and
WHEREAS, Prior to serving with the Police Department Officer Simpson served with the United States Army Military Police Corps.; and
WHEREAS, On October 17, 2011 at approximately 10:30pm Sergeant Simpson responded to a robbery call when his patrol car was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Allegheny and Aramingo Avenues; and
WHEREAS, After it was determined that the driver of the other vehicle was intoxicated he was taken into custody and pled guilty to the fatal accident; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Simpson’s end of watch date was October 17, 2011 at the age of 46; and
WHEREAS, He served the 24th Police District of Philadelphia for 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Simpson is survived by his wife and three children; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That we honor the life and service of this dedicated public servant by also naming the 2900 block of Holme Avenue in honor of Police Officer Timothy Simpson.
