Honoring and recognizing Michael Brody on the occasion of his retirement as President and CEO of Mental Health Partnerships and for his decades of service in the mental health arena.

WHEREAS, Michael Brody has more than 30 years of experience in mental and behavioral health, including a tenure at Mental Health Partnerships (MPH) for almost a decade, first as its Vice President and Director of Service Operations and then as President and Chief Executive Officer; and

WHEREAS, As Director of Service Operations, he directed multiple levels of community support services in Southeastern Pennsylvania, serving more than 4,000 people with behavioral health diagnoses annually, managed an annual budget of more than $15 million, and led and created opportunities to develop recovery-oriented services and involve people in recovery from mental health conditions in all aspects of service delivery; and

WHEREAS, As President and CEO he has both broadened and deepened the scope and geography of services, growing MHP into a $19 million organization that serves over 10,000 individuals and their families in the Greater Philadelphia Area, Delaware and Southwest New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, Michael also served as Chief Operating Officer of the Southwest Connecticut Mental Health System (SWCMHS), one of the largest multipurpose behavioral health systems in Connecticut, where he managed a wide range of community and hospital based services and was instrumental in leading a number of initiatives that created recovery oriented and peer led services; and

WHEREAS,

Michael helped build and lead the Danbury Mental Health Authority charged with coordinating and directing all behavioral health services in a multi-county region, leading efforts to create the first participant/consumer operated “Drop-In Center” and later psychosocial clubhouse in Connecticut; and

WHEREAS, Michael is deeply passionate about peer and family led services and is striving to continue the heritage of MHP as a premier provider of recovery oriented services in Southeastern Pennsylvania and beyond; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Does hereby honor and recognize Michael Brody on the occasion of his retirement as President and CEO of Mental Health Partnerships and for his decades of service in the Mental Health Area.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Michael Brody as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
