Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia recently launched the PHL Neighborhood Growth Project, a long-term initiative building on the Chamber’s Roadmap for Growth; and

WHEREAS, To date, partners include the African-American Chamber of Commerce of PA, NJ, & DE, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia, the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and dozens of civic and business leaders from across the City; and

WHEREAS, The Chamber and its partners will engage with community leaders, members of this City Council and the Kenney Administration in honest dialogue about the challenges facing the City of Philadelphia and advocate for an inclusive, pro-growth agenda as being key and needed solutions; and

WHEREAS, The PHL Neighborhood Growth Project has four major focus areas that include (1) Inclusive Growth and Good Jobs, (2) Education and Workforce Modernization, (3) Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods, and (4) Putting People First at City Hall; and

WHEREAS, For Philadelphia to reach its full potential, we must create more high-quality high-wage 21st Century jobs, build an inclusive economy with opportunity for all, and reinvigorate neighborhood commercial districts in all corners of the City; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby authorize the Committee on Commerce & Economic Development to hold hearings regarding the PHL Neighborhood Growth project.
