WHEREAS, Sandmeyer Steel was founded by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer in 1952, with a vision of producing stainless steel, nickel alloy and titanium products for use in American manufacturing; and
WHEREAS, In 1963, Sandmeyer Steel moved to Northeast Philadelphia in order to acquire a larger site, employee more Philadelphians, and grow their business. For 67 years, Sandmeyer Steel has solely produced stainless steel plate, nickel alloy plate, and titanium products in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Ronald P. Sandmeyer, Sr. became Chairman, President & CEO of Sandmeyer Steel in 1969 after the untimely passing of his father Paul. In his 28 years at this position, he continually worked to improve the company, increase profits, and provide a great and safe place to work for his employees; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Ronald Sandmeyer, Sr. stepped down from his role as President & CEO, and passed it onto his son Ronald Sandmeyer, Jr., while maintaining his role as Chairman of the Board; and
WHERAS, Many of Sandmeyer, Sr’s qualities as a leader are embodied in the Vision of the Sandmeyer Steel Company, including “Creating a great and safe place to work for members of the Sandmeyer Team”, “making significant contributions to the communities in which we work and live” and “making a positive impact on the quality of life of members of the Sandmeyer Team and their families.”
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and recognize the 90t Birthday of Ronald P. Sandmeyer, Sr., and his dedication to the Sandmeyer Steel Company and Northeast Philadelphia.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Ronald P. Sandmeyer, Sr., and to the Sandmeyer Family as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
