Recognizing Monday, December 14 to Friday, December 18, as PHLConnectED Week!

WHEREAS,

PHLConnectED is a City-led program that provides free internet to Philadelphia K through 12th grade student households that need high speed, reliable service

; and

WHEREAS, As a part of its larger digital equity initiative, the City of Philadelphia established the PHLConnectED program with corporate, public, and private funds, intended to connect up to 35,000 households to internet through June 2022; and

WHEREAS,

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, PHLConnectED and its many partners have helped more than 12,000 families cross the digital divide but many low-income families still lack reliable high speed internet for school

; and

WHEREAS, D

igital access is still a great need for many Philadelphia students and their families. The City will recognize December 14 to December 18, 2020 as “PHLConnectED Week”, where new program enhancements and expanded eligibility means even more families will be able to get connected to free reliable internet

; and

WHEREAS, While continuing to reach out via text, emails and phone calls, the staff of PHLConnectED

are encouraging those interested in learning more about the program to call 2-1-1 and press option 1 to see if they are eligible. Residents can also get more information about this program by visiting www.phila.gov/PHLConnectED;

now, therefore, be it
