WHEREAS, The boys bowling team is led by teacher, mentor, and coach Kevin Latchford; and
WHEREAS, Returning from previous seasons, Carver had an experienced team that had qualified for regionals and finished second to two-time champion, Boys Latin; and
WHEREAS, Senior Lucas Graham led the team with the most experience, blowing past other public league teams; and
WHEREAS, Teammates Jacob Drummond, Kameron Currie-El, Irvin Sigler, and Daniel Britto built upon impressive 2019-2020 stats to support and assist the team's victories; and
WHEREAS, The team had several derailments due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including a shorted season, less teams to compete with, and scattered schedule, however, E & S was still able to prevail and secure the title; and
WHEREAS, Despite Boys Latin superstar, Kendall Battles, bowling a nearly perfect game with a 299 score, the E & S Bowling team was still able to come out on top and claim the title; and
WHEREAS, The championship was the first for the Engineering and Sciences high school bowling team and hopefully will start the beginning of a long run as 4 of the 5 members will be returning for the 2021-2022 season; and
WHEREAS, The Carver Engineering and Science school mission statement is to, “prepare our students with the academic and personal skills for collegiate success and to empower our students with the social and leadership skills to be lifelong learners and productive citizens” and has demonstrated this in academics and athletics; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor the Carver Engineering and Science boys bowling team on their successful 2020-2021 season and first ever championship win.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the E &S High School 2021 boys bowling team as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body
