Amending Title 12 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Traffic Code," by creating a new Chapter 12-3600, entitled "Tractor Trailer Parking Ban," to prohibit the parking of tractor trailers on public streets of the City of Philadelphia, in certain circumstances, all under certain terms and conditions.

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:

SECTION 1: Title 12 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled “Traffic Code,” is amended as follows:

§ 12-3601 Definitions.

In this Chapter, the following definitions apply:

(1) “Tractor Unit.” A motor vehicle designed primarily for drawing truck trailers.

(2) “Trailer.” A nonautomotive freight vehicle to be drawn by a motortruck.

(3) “Tractor Trailer.” The combination of a tractor unit (large truck) with a long trailer attached to the back of it to carry freight.

§ 12-3602 Operation Tractor Trailer Parking Ban.

(1) No trailers or tractor trailers shall be parked on a public street or roadway in the City of Philadelphia.

(2) Trailers and tractor trailers parked on public streets in Philadelphia shall be towed at the expense of the tractor trailer’s owner.

SECTION 2: This Ordinance is effective immediately.
