Recognizing and honoring the 9-11 DelVal (Delaware Valley Youth Athletic Association) girls on the occasion of them winning the Pennsylvania Little League State Championships in Williamsport, PA.

Full Bill

WHEREAS, The DVYAA 9-11 girls are the first ever City of Philadelphia softball team to win the Pennsylvania Little League State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, The DVYAA 9-11 girls team roster consists of: Brooklyn Balilonis, McKenna Cannizarro, Ryleigh Cannizarro, Lauryn Foy, Chloe Kham, Sophia Kobielnik, Leighton Lieb, Reese McGuckin, Talia Molony, Gia Ottobre, Olivia Romano, Samantha Snyder and Gabriela Thompson; all under the watchful eyes of their coaches; Paul Cannizzaro, Ken Penrose and Bob Thompson and DVYAA President Anthony Veratti; and

WHEREAS, The DVYAA girls defeated a tough Berwyn Paoli - Devon Stafford Little League team in the Section 8 championship to advance to the Pennsylvania State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, The 9-11 DelVal (DVYAA) girls won the Pa Little League State Championship in Williamsport, PA by defeating the Hepburn-Lycoming Little League All Stars by a score of 16-0 in just three innings; and

WHEREAS, This championship follows a strong run many of the same DVYAA girls made in the 2019 Pennsylvania State Tournament finishing 3rd as 8-10 year olds because the 2020 Pennsylvania Little League Tournament was canceled due to the Covid-19 Virus; and

WHEREAS, The DVYAA Little League’s boundaries cover a majority of the neighborhoods south of Washington Avenue in South Philadelphia

; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize and honor

the 9-11 DelVal (Delaware Valley Youth Athletic Association) girls on the occasion of their winning the Pennsylvania Little League State Championships.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the

9-11 DelVal (Delaware Valley Youth Athletic Association) girls

as a sincere expression of City Council’s appreciation, and commendation on this momentous occasion.
