Honoring Venkat Balumuri for his incredible leadership and contributions to the health and wellbeing of Philadelphians throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHEREAS, The City Council of Philadelphia takes great pleasure in recognizing those who, through dedication and excellence, contribute in a meaningful way to the wellbeing of their communities and throughout the City of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Venkat Balumuri was born in India; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Balumuri has one older sister; and

WHEREAS, A proud Philadelphian, Mr. Balumuri is raising his two daughters, Vedhas and Tanya, in the City of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Balumuri is a laudable product of the University of Southern Queensland, having been a post-graduate student there; and

WHEREAS, Being a seasoned medical professional, Mr. Balumuri has dedicated his career to serving others in healthcare; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Balumuri’s dedication to keeping Philadelphians healthy did not dwindle in the face of unprecedented difficulties presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. During those trying times, his commitment to public health was reinforced

; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Balumuri is the owner of Deluxe Pharmacy on 8749 Frankford Avenue, located in the Sixth Councilmanic District; and

WHEREAS, Through Deluxe Pharmacy, he furthers his efforts to bolster community health by making information about common ailments accessible. Mr. Balumuri offers information about how to quit smoking, diabetes, weight loss, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and asthma; and

WHEREAS, In providing vaccinations, educating the community, and ensuring the health of our neighbors, he contributes greatly to our community and the City of Philadelphia. Dedicated members of the community, like Mr. Balumuri, are integral to the functioning and wholesomeness of our community. As such, his civic service is much appreciated; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Extends its sincere gratitude to Venkat Balumuri for his extraordinary service to our community. We wish him success in the days ahead.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Venkat Balumuri. as evidence of the City Council of Philadelphia’s sincere appreciation and admiration for his efforts to vaccinate Philadelphia residents against COVID-19.
