Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Julia R Masterman’s Boys Tennis team is led by Health and Physical Education teacher and Head Coach, Tracey Tooke; and

WHEREAS, The Masterman Blue Dragons were undefeated in both the Philadelphia Public League and in PIAA District 12 league; and

WHEREAS, The Masterman High School boys tennis team finished their season with a 5-0 sweep over Central High School and a 3-0 win over Devon Prep to win District 12 and advance to PIAA 2A Team State Championship; and

WHEREAS, In the PIAA Team Playoffs, the Blue Dragons won their semi-final competition 3-2 win over Conrad Weiser High School with a 3 set win from #2 doubles team, junior Emil Jermann, and Freshman Gabriel Crothall; and

WHEREAS, Masterman Boys had a tough 3-1 loss to Lancaster Catholic High School to become the runner-up in the PIAA 2A State Finals in late May of 2021; and

WHEREAS, Masterman High School’s mission and approach to learning is through providing, “an accelerated, enriched curriculum for academically talented students who are interested in college preparatory experience” and demonstrated both academic and athletic excellence as a nationally ranked “Top 100 Public school”; and

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor Julia R Masterman Boys Tennis Team on their

successful 2021 season and finishing second in the PIAA 2A State Playoffs.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Masterman Boys Tennis Team, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
