Full Bill

WHEREAS, Pierre Robert joined 93.3 WMMR in 1981 as a weekend jockey and record librarian; and

WHEREAS, A California native, Robert moved to Philadelphia with just his 1972 Volkswagen Microbus and $500 loaned from his father; and

WHEREAS, Over the next four decades, 93.3 WMMR became one of the most recognizable rock music stations in the United States, and Robert blossomed into one of the most iconic on-air radio talents; and

WHEREAS, Robert’s rich-voice, coupled with generosity and kindness for all “citizens” and fans he interacts with, has made him a beloved figure of listeners near and far; and

WHEREAS, In recognition of his stellar career, Robert was inducted into the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame as a member of the class of 2019, alongside the likes of the O’Jays and the Hooters; and

WHEREAS, Robert’s excellence and generosity also extends to his off-air contributions as a standout member of the community; and

WHEREAS, Robert hosts the annual Aids Walk and supports Manna’s “Pie in the Sky” fundraiser, Sister Mary Scullion and Bon Jovi’s “Project Home,” along with dozens of other charitable initiatives sponsored by WMMR; and

WHEREAS, In an industry typically fraught with format flips and personnel changes, remaining with one station for four decades is an almost unheard-of feat worthy of recognition; and

WHEREAS, The City is proud to acknowledge and celebrate Robert’s standout career and honor his many contributions both on and off the air; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADLEPHIA, That it hereby proclaims November 24, 2021, as Pierre Robert Day in Philadelphia in commemoration of his 40th Anniversary at 93.3 WMMR.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to Pierre Robert, further evidencing the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body.
