Full Bill

WHEREAS, Beech Community Services (B.C.S) is led by Director, Administrator, and community leader Christine Brown; and

WHEREAS, B.C.S.’ mission is to, “Help strengthen and sustain a healthy Cecil B. Moore community while enhancing and improving the quality of life for the residents it serves through effective action and communication”; and

WHEREAS, B.C.S. holds an annual neighborhood cleanup initiative to help residents and business owners combat neighborhood decay; and

WHEREAS, B.C.S. hosts Jazz on the Ave each year to celebrate inclusive fun, community engagement, and unity that highlights local talent and gives back to the community; and

WHEREAS, B.C.S. awards partial scholarships to deserving, minority students of color who are active in extracurricular activities that are entering or attending a local college full-time; and

WHEREAS, B.C.S. promotes Black-owned businesses in Philadelphia to harness Black economic development and uplift Black families by serving as a liaison between residents and business owners and by keeping and advertising a directory of local Black-owned business; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor Beech Community Services development of the Philadelphia Black Biz directory and community engagement in North Philadelphia during the Black Business Crawl.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to Beech Community Services, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
