Full Bill

WHEREAS, Ant Brown is a creative entrepreneur, rapper, and youth engagement strategist; and

WHEREAS, Brown promotes the use of art and entertainment to unite communities and reduce violence; and

WHEREAS, Brown founded the non-profit organization “AbroInc” - a creative arts initiative to reach inner city youth - and the “Abro Experience” which organizes guest speakers and entertainment in schools to raise awareness of gun violence; and

WHEREAS, Brown recently brought the Abro Experience to Kenderton Elementary School in North Philadelphia, engaging students with local social media influencers; and

WHEREAS, Brown believes these face-to-face engagements can help students untap their potential and stay on the right path; and

WHEREAS, Brown wants to counter the culture of division he says plague at-risk youth: “They grow up in a culture where they constantly have a conflict with one another, they are constantly against each other and we see that same behavior start to pour into the streets”; and

WHEREAS, Brown also created a rap group - “Ant Brown & the Future Influencers” to teach songwriting and produce positive music with local students and promote small businesses; and

WHEREAS, Brown’s work also focuses on juvenile rehabilitation and returning citizens; and

WHEREAS, Brown is strong advocate for at-risk youth in Philadelphia; his promotion of positivity and unity in the face of ongoing violence and hate is a much needed force in our City; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADLEPHIA, That it herby recognizes and honors creative entrepreneur and activist Ant Brown for his work in combatting violence among at-risk youth.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to Ant Brown, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
