WHEREAS, NBC has exclusive broadcast rights to the Olympics through 2032, making Miguel and Augustine the only Philadelphians covering the Beijing games; and
WHEREAS, Augustine (Augie) has worked as a visual storyteller, working tirelessly to tell Philadelphians stories as a photojournalist for Telemundo62 and NBC10 since 2014; and
WHEREAS, Augie's work has featured the unique life experiences of residents, representing a variety of different backgrounds and neighborhoods throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, Since 2017, Miguel has worked as a bilingual reporter for NBC10 and Telemundo62, becoming an active part of the community and falling in love with the Greater Philadelphia area; and
WHEREAS, Prior to joining NBC10, Miguel spent two years as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KVVU-Tv in Las Vegas and before that worked as a reporter at Univision Las Vegas/ KINC-TV and as a reporter/anchor at HOME-TV; and
WHEREAS,
Miguel earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Michigan State University and has been recognized with a Pacific Southwest Emmy Award for his coverage of the 2016 Presidential debate in Las Vegas

WHEREAS, Miguel was born in Guaymas, Mexico, and comes from a supportive Mexican family, he has developed a passion for LGBTQ issues, immigration, and expanding positive minority representation on television; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor Champion of the Week NBC10’s Miguel Martinez-Valle and Augustine Conte III for their coverage of the Winter Olympics in Beijing as the only Philadelphian reporter and photojournalist to cover the games.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to Miguel Martinez-Valle and Augustine Conte II, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
