Full Bill

WHEREAS, Kate Scott is using her historical milestones as a female broadcaster in the N.B.A. and Philadelphia sports to break down the stereotypes of what it means to be a play-by-play sports announcer; and

WHEREAS, Kate Scott is using her relative visibility

as one of the few openly L.G.B.T.Q.+ sports broadcasters to destigmatize the entry into the broadcasters for other L.G.B.T.Q.+ community members; and

WHEREAS, Kate Scott was the first woman to call an N.F.L. game on the radio and the first woman to call college football games for the Pac-12 Networks; and

WHEREAS, Kate Scott was a part of the first all-female broadcasts for the N.H.L. and a Golden State Warriors game, respectively; and

WHEREAS, Kate Scott called games during both the Tokyo Olympics and the

Copá América South American Soccer Championship; and

WHEREAS, Kate Scott was a co-host for sports talk radio show 95.7 The Game in San Francisco; and

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor Kate Scott on becoming the second woman to become a full-time broadcaster in N.B.A. history and the first female play-by-play announcer in Philadelphia sports history.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to the Sixers’ play-by-play announcer Kate Scott, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
