Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Northeast High School Wrestling team won the title of Public League champions for the second year in a row; and

WHEREAS, The Vikings moved on to the district tournament after winning 40-27 in a home match at Northeast High School against Central High School, a common rival for the team; and

WHEREAS, The Northeast High School Wrestling team is led by Coach Mike Siravo, who has led the team to victory for eight seasons; and

WHEREAS, Northeast’s Wrestling team stresses the importance of “

how to be a good teammate, friend, and person” and this is evident in the way that teammates came together to support each other after nine members won medals and eleven members were place winners at the Public League tournament

; and

WHEREAS, While the Vikings lost to the Lasalle Explorers in the District 12 championship, their resilience showed as they continued to win matches in the regional tournaments; and

WHEREAS, After winning the Public League title and competing in the Public League tournament, 9 out of 13 wrestlers moved on to compete in regionals, proving that the team is strong and ready to continue fighting to maintain their winning streak next winter season; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor the Northeast High School Wrestling team on their successful 2021-2 season and winning their 8th Public League championship title

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to the Northeast High School Wrestling team, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
