Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Philly Phantomz was established in 2015 by owner, linebacker, and tight end, Star Wright; and

WHEREAS, The women’s tackle football team is the only one of it’s kind in the Pennsylvania, serving to give young and adult women the opportunity to play tackle football in an organized setting; and

WHEREAS, Since 2018, the Philly Phantomz have been a part of the Women’s National Football Conference, along with 20 other Women’s tackle football teams along the east and west coast; and

WHEREAS, Under WNFC, the Phantomz have reached new heights, partnering with various other organization, such as with the Philadelphia Eagles to coach the Blitz Football Camp; and

WHEREAS, The Philly Phantomz are involved in both community and international services, in 2021, six players competed in Egypt for the first African Flag Cup with the goal of advocacy and inspiration for women in traditionally male dominated sports; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor Champion of the Week, The Philly Phantomz and the eight all-pro players, Kia Ivery, Candace Walker, Dominique Williams, Star Wright, Monique Wilson, Angela Wells, Latasha Richardson, and Hannah Degraffinreid for their accomplishment of making the Women’s National Football Conference All-pro list.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to The Philly Phantomz, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
