Honoring and congratulating Champion of the Week, Philly Junior Roller Derby All-Stars, on their victory at the 2022 Junior Roller Derby Association Championships.

WHEREAS, The Junior Roller Derby All-Stars, finished first in the regional playoffs in July and won the overall title at the 2022 Junior Roller Derby Association Championships; and

WHEREAS, With such conviction, the team acquired their first gold medal after placing sixth in 2018 and second in 2019 ; and

WHEREAS, The team ranging in ages thirteen to 18 years old went into this match-up with a winning record; securing their spot with a 341-82 win just the week before against Sioux Falls, South Dakota’s, Sodak Attack

; and

WHEREAS, The final match-up took place July 31st, where the Junior Roller Derby All-Stars bested Cherry City Cherry Blossoms, from Salem, OR; 190-90; and

WHEREAS, The Philly Junior Roller Derby All-Stars are also recognized for their open-gender team; making the team more inclusive and allowing for members to feel empowered in their own identities ; and

WHEREAS, The team returned to Philly with title in hand, members preparing to train for the 2023 World Cup tryouts ; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor champion of the week Philly Junior Roller Derby All-Stars, on their victory during the

Junior Roller Derby Association Championships.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to the Philly Junior Roller Derby All-Stars, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
