Recognizing and honoring the New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC) for 38 years of dedicated service to Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to recognize

the New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC), based at 2771 Ruth Street, Suite 1, Philadelphia, PA 19134, for 38 years of devoted community service to Kensington; and

WHEREAS, NKCDC

was organized in 1985 by Fishtown neighborhood leaders to prevent home foreclosures, rehabilitate vacant homes, provide utility assistance, as well as other housing services for the first 10 years. Over the past few years, NKCDC has broadened the corporation’s missions and goals and has made significant improvement in Philadelphia communities through powerful networking, sponsors, and partners; and

WHEREAS, NKCDC has built a reputation for

community revitalization while

advancing social equity and economic empowerment by

fighting displacement, promoting safety and stability, and

continuously uplifting all members of the community, including students, families, and business owners; and

WHEREAS, by virtue of this Citation, The Council of the City of Philadelphia, Hereby recognizes and honors

NKCDC

for 38 years of dedicated service to the revitalization of homes and community-based efforts. We extend the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body and give our sincere thanks for service to the community and throughout the City of Philadelphia,: now therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes and honors NKCDC for 38 years of dedicated service to Philadelphia.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to NKCDC as a sincere expression of City Council’s appreciation and congratulations!
