Honoring and congratulating Champion of the Week, Gianna Masci, for her successes on and off the field as an athlete and student at Philadelphia Performing Arts: String Theory Charter School.

WHEREAS, Masci has played soccer in her 9th, 11th, and 12th grade years, and softball her in her 11th grade and 12th grade years; and,

WHEREAS, She was the Philadelphia Coaches Association Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the Philadelphia Public League, and the graduating senior will receive a $1,000 academic scholarship; and

WHEREAS, Masci is a stellar student, boasting an impressive 3.9-grade point average on a schedule stacked with hard sciences like anatomy and physiology; and

WHEREAS, She plans on studying radiology and playing soccer in the fall at university; and

WHEREAS, Masci is batting over .400 and has been a crucial component in String Theory’s 4-0 start to the 2023 season; and

WHEREAS, Masci began catching out of necessity, filling a crucial vacancy by stepping up when her team needed it most; and

WHEREAS, The senior also takes and edits photos for the school’s sports teams; and

WHEREAS, Masci balances her full scholastic and athletic schedule with a part-time job at Chickie’s and Pete’s, evidencing her immense dedication; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby congratulate and honor the Champion of the Week, Gianna Masci, for her successes on and off the field as an athlete and student at Philadelphia Performing Arts: String Theory Charter School.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy be presented to Gianna Masci and her family, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
