Amending Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Designation of Bicycle Lanes," to authorize a bicycle lane on East Market street from 2nd street to 6th street; and making associated changes to parking regulations within the same limits; all under certain terms and conditions.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 12-701 of The Philadelphia Code is amended to read as follows:
§ 12-701. Designation of Bicycle Lanes.

(2) The Department is authorized to designate a bicycle lane upon the following streets and regulate the operation and use of vehicles and bicycles upon such streets in a manner consistent with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) regulations:

(*) East Market Street, from 2nd street to 6th street: One bicycle lane in each direction, and the removal of a moving vehicle lane on each side of the street within the same limits.
SECTION 2. The following parking regulations shall be amended on East Market street, both sides, from 5th street to 6th street to:

SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect as follows:
(a)
Section 1: Immediately.
(b)
Section 2: Upon construction of the Old City Market project with lane changes.
