Honoring and congratulating Champion of the Week, Zykee Scott, for receiving a full athletic football scholarship to Penn State University at only 14 years old.

Full Bill

WHEREAS, Zykee Scott has just begun his freshman year at Imhotep Institute Charter School; and

WHEREAS, As a linebacker for the Blackhawks Athletic Club, Zykee regularly leads his football team in North Philadelphia to victory; and

WHEREAS, Zykee and his family survived the deadly Fairmount rowhouse fire which killed 12 people in January 2022; and

WHEREAS, After losing his home to the fire, Zykee exhibited remarkable resilience, dedication, and determination to his schoolwork and football; and

WHEREAS, Zykee’s father, Charles Scott implements a sense of resilient optimism in his son saying, “You’ll never know what’s going to happen the next day, so you [have] to live each day and bring the best out of you”; and

WHEREAS, A model student, Zykee values his education and academics just as much as his athletics; and

WHEREAS, Zykee made the honor roll and earned an academic award at his middle school graduation from Bache-Martin School in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, As a 14 year old, Zykee is one of the youngest ever scholars to be offered a scholarship at Penn State University; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and congratulate Zykee Scott, for receiving a full athletic football scholarship to Penn State University at only 14 years old.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an engrossed copy be presented to Zykee Scott, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
