Honoring Science Leadership Academy at Beeber 10th Grader, Zoe Smith, for winning the Individual Women's Public League Golf Championship.

WHEREAS, Zoe Smith is a 10th grade student at Science Leadership Academy at Beeber in the Wynnefield Neighborhood of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Science Leadership Academy at Beeber (SLA Beeber) is an inquiry driven, project-based learning school that focuses on developing students’ skills in our core values of inquiry, research, collaboration, presentation, and reflection. We have a lower school for students in grades 5-8 and an upper school for grades 9-12, and offer CTE programs in Engineering and Education for high school students; and

WHEREAS, On Friday, September 29, 2023, Zoe Smith, won the Individual Women’s Public Leage Golf Championship, bringing pride to her school; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Smith’s tremendous showing on the green highlights the first-time that SLA Beeber has ever been represented Golf; and

WHEREAS, In addition to being a student-athlete with her tremendous golfing abilities, Zoe is a leader in the classroom and throughout her school community; and

WHEREAS, Even though Zoe brought home the gold with the Individual Women’s Public League Golf Championship, she is still competing at higher levels with the goal of earning another championship; and

WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia hereby congratulates Zoe Smith for her hard-earned victory and wishes her the greatest of luck for her future golfing and academic pursuits; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby honors Science Leadership Academy at Beeber 10th Grader, Zoe Smith, for winning the Individual Women’s Public League Golf Championship

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Zoe Smith as a sign of the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
