Proclaiming the Week of May 3, 2024 to May 11, 2024 as the 14th annual Philly Tech Week and honoring the broad and vibrant Philadelphia technology community.

WHEREAS, Philadelphia’s technology, innovation and creative communities are again coming together to celebrate their importance to the region’s economy, culture, and future during Philly Tech Week; and

WHEREAS, The Philadelphia technology community, with leadership from news organization Technical.ly and 1Philadelphia, has organized a series of events around technology and innovation in Philadelphia called Philly Tech Week; and

WHEREAS, The Philly Tech Week Kickoff Event commences May 3, 2024 with a free festival where Philadelphians are introduced to interactive technologies from across the City. The following day features the Aerospace Robotics Competition from Pennovation Center, which brings five area school robotics teams build and race handmade drones; and

WHEREAS, Beyond promoting and highlighting technological innovation, Philly Tech Week also holds seminars and sessions focusing on workforce development and industry sector growth, such as Beyond Entry Level, Katika Experiences’ Design the Future program, Transforming the Digital Workforce from the Ground Up with the Technology Learning Collaborative (TLC) and Hopeworks, and Technical.ly’s NET/WORK Tech Jobs Fair; and

WHEREAS, Philly Tech Week also prioritizes expanding access to the technology and sciences industries for traditionally marginalized and underrepresented groups, particularly to Black and Brown youth and women. Multiple events cater to workforce development in these communities, such as the Future is Female session, Out in Tech, and the Latinx in Tech Meetup event; and

WHEREAS, The continuation of Philly Tech Week as an annual celebration and gathering of influencers in the technology and innovation sphere furthers Philadelphia’s reputation as an emerging East Coast hub of technology and innovation, and signifies the City of Philadelphia’s commitment to advancing opportunity and development in the technological industries; now, therefore, be it
