Full Bill

WHEREAS, Girard College’s Middle School Varsity Boys Track Team is led by head coach and football coach Reggie Manley; and

WHEREAS, The championship victory marks the second consecutive Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association’s (MPAA) Boys Track Championship under Coach Manley; and

WHEREAS, Girard College’s Varsity Girls Track Team also performed well, finishing second at the MPAA track meet; and

WHEREAS, The Middle School Varsity Boys Team also placed 3rd at the Penn Relays; and

WHEREAS, Xzavion McMillian was a particular standout at the 2024 MPAA Championship, setting new Girard College records in the 100m, 200m, and 400m dashes; and

WHEREAS, These performances were good enough for first place in the Boys 400m and second place in the Boys 200m races; and

WHEREAS, Ascher Wall also placed third in the Boys 400m dash; and

WHEREAS, Kaleb Ryans and Mazier Brennan performed outstandingly in the long jump, high jump, and triple jump competitions; and

WHEREAS, Girard College’s mission statement encapsulates their commitment to excellence in academics and athletics, striving to instill “hard work, dedication and self-discipline in our students that will promote a sense of integrity, pride and loyalty”; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That this esteemed body honors and congratulates the Girard College Varsity Boys Track Team for winning the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association’s Boys Track Championship

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Girard College Varsity Boys Track Team as evidence of the true and sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
