Full Bill

WHEREAS, The Brotherly Love Pro-Am League (Brotherly Love) was founded in September 2020 by Novar Gadson and Ramone Moore with a vision of providing Philadelphia with high-caliber basketball games featuring professional players; and

WHEREAS, Brotherly Love is committed to fostering equity, opportunity, and lasting camaraderie through a network of professional athletes, with initiatives that include Pro-Am basketball leagues, workforce development, youth engagement, violence prevention, and food banks, all aimed at enhancing the physical, financial, and mental health of Philadelphia communities; and

WHEREAS, Rex 6, a team competing in the Brotherly Love League, comprises former professional basketball players and aspiring pro players. Though primarily composed of individuals from South Philadelphia, Rex 6 embraces talent from across the city; and

WHEREAS, Coach Tiriq Henson has been leading Rex 6 since 2021, demonstrating exceptional dedication and skill in guiding the team; and

WHEREAS, Rex 6 experienced a challenging season, initially starting strong with a 2-0 record but facing a setback with three consecutive losses, ultimately finishing in the 7th seat; and

WHEREAS, In the Brotherly Love Championship game, Rex 6 displayed remarkable determination and resilience, ultimately defeating their biggest rival, Blue Magic, to secure the championship title; and

WHEREAS, Rex 6’s victory was notably influenced by the outstanding performances of Small Forward Wallie Hepburn, Point Guard Juanye Green, Shooting Guard Biggie Minnis, Power Forward Jamir Hanner, and Center Quadir Welton whose contributions were pivotal to the team’s success; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADLPHIA, W

e honor and congratulate the Rex 6 Basketball Team for their victory in the 2024 Brotherly Love Basketball Championship. We commend their perseverance, teamwork, and dedication both on and off the court.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Rex 6 Basketball Team as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
