Full Bill

WHEREAS, Keith Harris is a community leader and the Democratic Ward Leader for the 28th Ward, where he has represented the interests of Strawberry Mansion at the Democratic City Committee; and

WHEREAS, On September 17, 2024, Harris garnered the required votes to earn him a victory in the special election for House District 195, which includes sections of North Central, Strawberry Mansion, Brewerytown, Sharswood, Spring Garden, Fairmount, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and sections of Fairmount Park; and

WHEREAS, Upon his inauguration, Harris will continue his over four decades of service to the North Philadelphia community and Philadelphia at large. Previously, Harris was the Sergeant At Arms for Philadelphia City Council, stewarding the legislative process and maintaining order during sessions and committee hearings; and

WHEREAS, On Monday, September 30, 2024, Harris will be inaugurated to his new position as State Representative at a ceremony in the Pennsylvania State Capitol; and

WHEREAS, This Council commends Mr. Harris for rising to the occasion to fill House District 195’s vacant seat, allowing the voice of the constituents of H.D. 195 to continue to be represented through the end of the 2024 legislative session; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Does hereby honor and congratulate State Representative-Elect Keith Harris on the occasion of his special election victory in Pennsylvania House District 195.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Keith Harris, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
