WHEREAS, Sanjuanita Gonzalez was appointed and confirmed on December 16, 2010, to serve as a member of the Philadelphia Board of Ethics in the remaining portion of a five-year term that ended November 16, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzalez was appointed and confirmed on November 21, 2013, to serve as a member of the Board for the five-year term ended on November 16, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzalez was re-appointed and confirmed on December 6, 2018, to serve a second full five-year term ended on November 16, 2023; and
WHEREAS, By operation of law, Ms. Gonzalez’s appointment has been extended for an additional year; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzalez has provided written notice to the Mayor that she will resign her position on the Board of Ethics, effective upon the confirmation of a successor by City Council; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker has nominated Nelson Diaz for appointment as a member of the Philadelphia Board of Ethics, to succeed Sanjuanita Gonzalez for the remainder of the term that will expire November 16, 2028; and
WHEREAS, Section 3-806 of the Charter requires the advice and consent of a majority of all members of the Council for the appointment of members of the Board of Ethics; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council hereby consents to and confirms the appointment of Nelson Diaz as a member of the Board of Ethics, to serve in the term ending November 16, 2028.
