(108.1)
Electric Vehicle.
A vehicle for on-road use primarily powered by an electric motor that draws current from an onboard battery charged through a building electrical service, electric vehicle supply equipment, or another source of electric current.
(108.2) Electric Vehicle Parking Space, Installed.
A designated parking space which is provided with at least a Level 2 installed Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment, regardless of whether motor vehicles in the space may be parked or kept for a charge, fee, or other consideration.
(108.3) Electric Vehicle Parking Space, Ready.
A designated parking space which is provided with a dedicated branch circuit that is not less than 40-ampere and 208/240-volt assigned for electric vehicle supply equipment terminating in a receptacle or junction box located in close proximity to the proposed location of the EV parking space.
(108.4) Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment.
The apparatus installed specifically to transfer energy between the premises wiring and the Electric Vehicle. The charging levels include the following specifications:
Level 1.
Operates on a 15-to-20-ampere breaker on a single phase 120-volt AC branch circuit. Approved Level 1 connectors include standard 120V grounded outlets (NEMA 5-15, 5-20, or 5-30) and SAE J1772.
Level 2.
Operates on a 40-to-50-ampere breaker on a single-phase 208/240-volt AC circuit. Approved Level 2 connectors include an SAE J1772 EV plug.
Level 3 (DCFC).
Operates on a 100 ampere or higher breaker on a 480-volt three-phase AC with special grounding equipment. Approved DCFC connectors include the CHAdeMO and SAE Combo (also called CCS for “Combo Charging System”).

Embellishment.
Any area of an advertising design that extends at an angle from the parallel plane of view of any two- dimensional sign.

(6) Electric Vehicle [Supply Wiring.]
Parking Standards.
Required Electric Vehicle Parking Spaces
For the purpose of providing for the charging of electric vehicles, [as defined in Section 12-1131 (Electric Vehicle Parking),] any development, [as defined in § 14-203(94), that contains a residential use and is] providing

[20] or more parking spaces [in connection with the development] shall provide Electric Vehicle Parking Spaces in accordance
with any one of the options set forth in
Table 14-803-3. [An electric vehicle parking space is a parking space provided with one or more branch circuits capable of supplying electric vehicle supply equipment at such space rated at 208/240 V 40 amperes.]
For purposes of this subsection (6) and Table 14-803-3 <https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/philadelphia/latest/philadelphia_pa/0-0-0-293966>, parking spaces do not include mechanical or valet parking spaces
and shall be calculated as set forth in Section 14-202(12.1).
(.2) For purposes of calculating the number of parking spaces required for Option A of Table 14-803-3, EV Installed parking spaces

hall be counted toward the minimum number of EV Ready parking spaces.

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Signage Standards.
Non-accessory signs on Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment are permitted as set forth below:
(.1) Non-accessory signs shall conform to the provisions of Section 14-903(2);
(.2) There shall be a limit of one non-accessory sign per EV Charger, which shall have a maximum of one sign face;
(.3) Signs with animated and non-animated illumination may not be operated between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.;
(.4) Primary illumination of the screens shall be internal and use ambient light sensors to automatically reduce the intensity of the illumination during periods of darkness; and
(.6) All signs must comply with applicable Pennsylvania Department of Transportation regulations.

(2) Zoning Permit Not Required; Code Conformance Required.

(f) The placement of any video or digital display with a screen area of less than one sq. ft. on a permitted primary structure, accessory structure, or piece of equipment and designed to be viewed only by an individual obtaining services or goods at that location. This includes digital or video screens on fuel pumps, car washes,
