Full Bill

WHEREAS, Isabella Fitzgerald passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2024, leaving behind an enduring legacy of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her community; and

WHEREAS, Representative Isabella Fitzgerald was a proud resident of West Oak Lane for more than 40 years and a devoted member of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church, where her faith served as the foundation for her tireless work in service of others; and

WHEREAS, Representative Fitzgerald embraced her motto, "Let's Keep Moving Forward," dedicating her life to advocating for her neighbors and advancing meaningful change. She held numerous roles that reflected her leadership, compassion, and dedication, including Ward Secretary, Ward Treasurer, and Ward Leader for the 10th Ward; Founding Member and Chairperson of the Northwest CommUnity Coalition for Youth; Board and Planning Committee Member of Women of Faith and Hope, a breast cancer self-help support organization; Public Safety Area Coordinator for the 14th Police District; Special Assistant to U.S. Representative Robert A. Brady; and Legislative Assistant to former State Representative and current Congressman Dwight Evans; and

WHEREAS, In November 2016, Representative Fitzgerald was elected to represent the 203rd Legislative District in Northwest Philadelphia, a position she approached with unmatched passion, integrity, and determination to address the needs of her constituents; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Representative Fitzgerald achieved extraordinary milestones, championing initiatives that spurred economic development, enhanced public safety, expanded educational opportunities, and improved healthcare access for Philadelphia’s most vulnerable. Her advocacy for youth programs and dedication to fostering equity earned her widespread admiration and respect; and

WHEREAS, Representative Fitzgerald’s unwavering commitment to her community, coupled with her resilience and compassionate spirit, has left a profound and lasting impact, inspiring future generations to follow her example; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor life and legacy of Isabella “Izzy” Fitzgerald. Her tireless dedication, advocacy, and love for her community will forever be remembered as a guiding light and a source of inspiration for all who strive to make a difference.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed resolution be presented to the family of Ms. Isabella Fitzgerald, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body.
