WHEREAS, DJ Gary O, a cherished figure in Philadelphia’s music scene, passed away on December 18, 2024; and
WHEREAS, He was known for his dynamic presence on WDAS FM, and was a central figure in events like the WDAS Live Saturday Night Dance Party; and
WHEREAS, Beyond his radio presence, DJ Gary O was a sought-after entertainer for both personal and business events, offering DJ services through his company, DJ Gary O Entertainment; and
WHEREAS, His influence extended to the broader Philadelphia community, where he was celebrated for his contributions to the City’s vibrant music culture. His passing is a significant loss; and
WHEREAS, DJ Gary O’s contributions to the music industry extended far beyond his work as a DJ, as he was also a mentor, friend, and advocate for aspiring musicians, constantly sharing his knowledge and helping others succeed; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, DJ Gary O’s infectious energy, creativity, and talent resonated with listeners, inspiring generations of music lovers and fellow artists alike, earning him a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his work; and
WHEREAS, DJ Gary O’s legacy will continue to influence the music community and his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched, the music he played, and the memories he created; and
WHEREAS, His passing has created a void in the lives of those who knew him personally and professionally, but his legacy will be forever cherished, honored, and celebrated by all who had the privilege of hearing his music and sharing in his journey; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of DJ Gary O, and honors his life, legacy, and immeasurable contributions to the music world; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be present to the family of DJ Gary O as a token of the sincere admiration of this legislative body.
