Honoring the life and legacy of Tyler Sabapathy, a beloved Temple University student.

Full Bill

WHEREAS, Tyler Sabapathy, a native of Toronto, Canada, was a proud Temple Owl who embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and inspire those around him. Majoring in Exercise and Sport Science, he was deeply passionate about understanding the mechanics of movement and injury prevention, a field that complemented his love for gymnastics and his desire to help others; and

WHEREAS, A dedicated and accomplished gymnast, Tyler earned more than 120 medals in provincial, regional, and international competitions. Gymnastics required constant effort and resilience, and Tyler met every challenge with hard work and a relentless drive to improve; and

WHEREAS, At Temple, Tyler found more than just a place to continue his gymnastics journey, he found a community where he truly belonged. As a valued member of Temple’s club gymnastics team, he thrived in the camaraderie of the team, forging deep bonds with those who trained alongside him and always supporting others with the same dedication he gave to his own growth; and

WHEREAS, Tyler was a genuine, fearless, and one-of-a-kind individual who approached life with boundless enthusiasm and generosity. He formed deep, meaningful friendships and had a rare ability to make others feel seen and valued. His kindness, laughter, and adventurous spirit made him admire others; and

WHEREAS, His love for his sport and his community at Temple exemplified what it means to be an Owl-dedicated, hardworking, and always striving to be better. The lessons he learned through gymnastics-perseverance, teamwork, and determination-were the same qualities that made him an inspiration to so many; and

WHEREAS, The Temple University community and the City of Philadelphia mourn the loss of such a bright and promising individual. Though his time was tragically short, his legacy of perseverance, dedication, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors the life and legacy of Tyler Sabapathy, extending heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and the Temple University community, who will forever cherish his memory.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tyler Sabapathy as an expression of the City’s respect, sympathy, and appreciation for his lasting contributions to Temple University and beyond.
