A resolution congratulating Universal Audenried High School's Varsity Girls' Basketball Team for their historic three-peat as 2025 Public League Champions.

WHEREAS, On February 23, 2025, the Universal Audenried High School Lady Rockets secured their third consecutive Philadelphia Public League Championship when they beat Imhotep’s Lady Panthers 65-52; and

WHEREAS, This historic achievement is a testament to the Lady Rockets’ exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination as well as the unwavering commitment of their coaches and support staff; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Kevin Slaughter played a pivotal role in guiding the team to success, instilling discipline, strategic excellence, and a winning mentality; and

WHEREAS, Senior guard Shayla Smith demonstrated outstanding leadership, contributing significantly to the team’s triumph with her precision shooting and composure under pressure; and

WHEREAS, The championship victory was especially meaningful following an intense season, including a narrow 67-64 loss to Imhotep on January 22, 2025, during a three-game losing streak; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Rockets displayed remarkable perseverance in the championship game, making strategic adjustments in the second half to pull ahead and secure a twelve-point lead; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Rockets are using the momentum from this victory to help carry them to the State Championship; and

WHEREAS, This legislative body is in full support of the Lady Rockets and their continued pursuit of excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby congratulates Audenried High School’s Varsity Girls’ Basketball Team for their historic three-peat as 2025 Public League Champions.

FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Universal Audenried’s Lady Rockets as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
