WHEREAS, Erik Reynolds II, a senior guard from Temple Hills, Maryland, made history on Senior Night by surpassing Hawks legend Jameer Nelson to become St. Joseph’s University’s all-time leading scorer, hitting a three-pointer in front of Nelson himself and forever etching his name in Philadelphia basketball history; and

WHEREAS, Reynolds’ path to this milestone was marked by four years of unwavering dedication, development, and consistency - reaching over 2,000 career points and helping to guide the Hawks to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the early 2000s; and

WHEREAS, Beyond the stat sheet, Reynolds grew as a leader and teammate, navigating challenges with humility and maturity while continuing to elevate his game on both ends of the court; and

WHEREAS, His relationship with Coach Billy Lange, built on trust, mentorship, and shared belief, played a crucial role in his growth from film sessions and late-night conversations to moments of encouragement during difficult stretches; and

WHEREAS, In an era where player movement is common, Reynolds’ loyalty and long-term commitment to St. Joe’s stand as a rare and admirable example of perseverance, self-belief, and community impact; and

WHEREAS, Erik Reynolds’ legacy is not only about the records he broke but about the inspiration he provides a reminder of what’s possible through hard work, faith in oneself, and staying true to your journey; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors and recognizes Erik Reynolds for his extraordinary athletic achievements, his commitment to St. Joseph’s University, and the pride he brings to the Philadelphia community.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Erik Reynolds as a symbol of the City’s deep appreciation and admiration for his contributions and his continued excellence both on and off the court.
