WHEREAS, Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) is an organization that engages, connects, and represents young Philadelphians to increase civic engagement; and

WHEREAS, YIP’s foundation began in 2000 among a small group of college graduates; and

WHEREAS, The first open meeting was held in 2001, and in 2003, the organization was incorporated as a charitable organization; and

WHEREAS,

YIP is known as Philadelphia’s leading organization of young individuals, generally age 22 to 35 years of age, although all are welcome; and

WHEREAS,

At this time, YIP includes more than 7000 members; and its flagship program, Board Prep, produced nearly 1,000 alumni that serve on various boards across Philadelphia and the surrounding region; and

WHEREAS,

The State of Young Philadelphia (SOYP) is an annual event that brings together community organizations, young professionals, and leaders to discuss and address key issues facing the City, from mental health and education to local government and the environment; and

WHEREAS,

The Board Prep Program is a training program for young professionals interested in serving on nonprofit boards. It provides education on board governance and connects participants with non-profit organizations in need of new leadership; and

WHEREAS, YIP’s goal is to empower a new generation of leaders by connecting them with opportunities, providing education about civic affairs, and strengthening the voice of young people in the City’s leadership; and

WHEREAS,

Under the current leadership of its Board President, Nico Meyering, Vice Presidents Rishaun A. Hall, Gary Wooten, Board Treasurer Anton Krotenok, and Board Secretary Haley Burrowes, YIP provides a meaningful contribution to the City of Philadelphia and its young people through civic engagement and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, As Young Involved Philadelphia celebrates its 25th Anniversary on October 18th, 2025, the City of Philadelphia proudly recognizes the organization’s commitment to empowering young adults, increasing civic engagement, connecting young adults with leadership and community opportunities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors, recognizes, and celebrates

Young Involved Philadelphia on its 25th Anniversary for their commitment to increasing civic engagement, empowering young adults, fostering leadership development, and connecting young professionals with leadership and volunteer opportunities.

FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution will be presented to Young Involved Philadelphia as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
