WHEREAS, The Michelin Guide has been around since 1900, when it was first published by brothers

André and Édouard Michelin to promote car travel in France. Today, the guide covers over 40,000 restaurants in more than 25 countries across four continents; and

WHEREAS, The Michelin Star designation is awarded to restaurants by anonymous inspectors based on five key criteria such as the quality of ingredients, mastery of flavors and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in the cuisine, harmony of flavors, and consistency between visits; and

WHEREAS, The 2025 Michelin Stars for Northeastern restaurants were announced on November 18, 2025, at a ceremony held at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia, marking the recognition of culinary excellence across the region; and

WHEREAS, Philadelphia has a rich and diverse history of hospitality, culture, and cuisine, with numerous award-winning restaurants and bars; and

WHEREAS, Three Philadelphia restaurants were recognized as 2025 Michelin Stars, reflecting the City’s growing prominence on the global culinary stage and underscoring the exceptional talent, creativity, and hospitality that define Philadelphia’s vibrant dining community; and

WHEREAS, Her Place Supper Club, founded and owned by the chef Amanda Shulman, who first served her innovative cuisine through a supper club operated out of her apartment and co-owned by her fiancé Alex Kemp Roussy, has been recognized for receiving a prestigious 2025 Michelin star; and

WHEREAS, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, owned by Chad and Hanna Williams, a highly acclaimed Rittenhouse Square restaurant known for its eight-course tasting menu offered upstairs and The Lovers Bar its walk-in only downstairs bar has been recognized with a prestigious Michelin star; and

WHEREAS, Provenance, owned by chef Nicholas Bazik, exemplifies the restaurant’s dedication to tracing the origin of its ingredients from locally sourced oysters to Korean-style ingredients, has been recognized for receiving a prestigious 2025 Michelin star; and

WHEREAS, Michelin added 21 Philadelphia restaurants to their “Michelin Recommended” category based on them being noteworthy and reliably good including but not limited to Ambra, High Street, Forsythia, Hiroki, Honeysuckle, Illata, Kalaya, Laser Wolf, Laurel, Little Water, Mish Mish, My Loup, Pietramala, River Twice, Roxanne, Southwark, Suraya, Vedge, Vernick Food & Drink, Vetri Cucina, and Zahav; and

WHEREAS, Pietramala owned by chef Ian Graye, the innovative mind behind the Philadelphia’s renowned plant-based restaurant won a Michelin Green star. The Michelin Green star is a distinction bestowed to a restaurant for their commitment to sustainable gastronomy and eco-friendly practices; and

WHEREAS, The Bib Gourmand is an award from the Michelin Guide that recognizes restaurants offering high-quality, delicious food at a reasonable price. Philadelphia also had very strong representation in this category including but not limited to, Angelo’s Dalessandro’s, Del Rossi’s, Fiorella, El Chingon, Dizengoff, 4th Street Deli, Pizzeria Beddia, Royal Sushi & Izakaya, and Sally; and

WHEREAS, The City of Philadelphia is home to a remarkably diverse and energetic restaurant community, where neighborhood establishments thrive and where chefs and restaurateurs draw inspiration from the City’s multicultural fabric to craft memorable and authentic dining experiences; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby congratulates the Philadelphia restaurants earning the City’s first Michelin stars and recognizing the historic milestone of Philadelphia entering the Michelin Guide.
